Delve into the enchanting wisdom of The Skanda Purana, unveiling the timeless significance of the sacred Tulsi plant. In the Vaisnava and Nāgara khaṇḍas, its greatness is celebrated, tracing its divine birth from the tears of joy shed by Lord Dhanvantari during the Samudra Manthan.

As The Skanda Purana narrates, worshipping Tulsi with even half a leaf daily makes Lord Hari directly visible. Devotees who ardently honor Tulsi and Hari ascend to the highest realms, gaining Brahma's recognition for the vastness of their Tulsi plant's roots. Bathing in water touched by Tulsi leaves absolves sins, bringing joy in the abode of Vishnu.

The sacredness of Tulsi extends to the dwelling where a Tulsi grove thrives, rendering it impervious to the emissaries of Yama. The grove is deemed meritorious, annihilating sins and fulfilling desires. Smearing scented ointment mixed with Tulsi twigs shields the body from the touch of sin. Atonement for Pitrs finds sanctity in performing Sraddha in the shade of Tulsi plants.

Yama himself is said to avert his gaze if a Tulsi leaf is visible in a person's mouth, ears, or head, explaining the tradition of placing Tulsi leaves in the mouth of the dying. Planting Tulsi is believed to banish poverty, attracting the blessings of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Those who consume Tulsi or nurture its growth are believed to escape the realm of Yama.

If Tulsi, whether in the form of a mala or leaf, resides in the hearts of living beings, it is said to grant all desires. During Chatur-mass, the rare act of sprinkling Tulsi plants with milk or watering them becomes a sacred ritual. The service of Tulsi, whether by a religious student, householder, forest hermit, or ascetic, brings forth Hari's protection, warding off miseries.

In the tapestry of ancient wisdom, Tulsi emerges as a divine conduit, weaving blessings, purification, and prosperity into the lives of those who embrace its sacred presence with unwavering faith. ??

Very informative explanation of tulsi. Can we water tulsi daily or any particular day to be avoided. Please write more about such holy plants which can be planted and prayed at home. Thanks !

Thanks. Tulsi can be watered daily. There is a popular misconception that Tulsi should not be watered on Sunday. If we try to understand, Sunday is day of Sun which is responsible for maintaining Prana. All plant life contains prana but it is specially high in Tulsi and Peepal. This is the reason that these plants should not be "touched" on Sunday as it disturbs the natural equilibrium of these plants. However, these plants can be watered on Sunday without touching them..

Great, information is vary good. I think it is mith about not watering the Tulsi on Sunday. But if you can describe about scientific effect on body or anything else due to touching Tulsi or Peepal Tree on Sunday. No doubt Tulsi has a most important role in our spiritual activities and also in medical activities. One more doubt about not to chew Tulsi leaf. Regarding tulsi and Sunday, Sunday is day of Sun which is responsible for maintaining Prana. All plant life contains prana but it is specially high in Tulsi and Peepal. This is the reason that these plants should not be "touched" on Sunday as it disturbs the natural equilibrium of these plants. There is no harm on human body by touching tulsi on Sunday. About chewing Tulsi leaves, it is said that tulsi has trace amount of Mercury in it. When chewed, it is harmful for teeth. That being said, there is no scientific proof yet that tulsi leaf has mercury. Mercury or not, chewing tulsi leaf is not good for mouth and it is best to take tulsi in other forms like tulsi tea. I'll share more on it once I find anything conclusive about it. .
